St Clement's Church of England Primary School

St Clement's Church of England Primary School

Our Local Governing Body

At St Clement's CE Primary School we have a committed and dedicated Local Governing Body. All governors work to ensure the effective management of the school, alongside the Headteacher and her Deputy, and contribute a range of skills from a variety of backgrounds. The Governor's role is strategic, not operational, and includes ensuring vision is being turned into reality, ethos is being embedded and progress is being made against the School's action plan. The relationship between the Governors and the Head Teacher and staff is one of support and challenge.

Governors are often in school, formally and informally, keeping in touch with school life. They meet regularly throughout the year, either as a 'whole body' or in sub committees. Our Governors also undertake regular planned monitoring visits to the school, monitoring a specific area of the School's action plan.

Anne Panayiotou - Chair of Governors (Appointed Governor)

I am the Chair of Governors of St Clement’s School. I was very pleased to be asked by Aquila to take on this role. I am looking forward to collaborating with the school, pupils, and their families in supporting them in all their endeavours.

I have lived on Sheppey since 1996, and both my children attended schools on Sheppey. I am keen to still be involved in education on Sheppey so when I was asked by the Aquila Trust to consider becoming a school governor, I was pleased to do so, back in 2019.

I am a retired teacher, I spent over half of my career teaching in Swale schools, including eleven years in a Middle school on Sheppey. I have always enjoyed working with and supporting the children and parents as well as the staff in the schools where I have been employed. St Clement’s School has a happy, welcoming atmosphere, where the children are polite and keen to do their best.

I am looking forward to the future developments in this new school, and being able to participate as the school moves onwards.

Claire Evenden (Appointed Governor)

Having moved to the island in 2021, I wanted to contribute to my community and in particular to the children and families that live here and so I applied to become a School Governor. I have worked in higher education for over 25 years and know from experience what a difference primary education makes to a young person’s development and educational achievements.

I was extremely pleased to invited and then appointed as a Governor in the same year by Aquila. I live in Warden Bay so being a part of my local primary school and contributing as part of the Board of Governors to ensuring we deliver a safe supportive and creative place for the children; their families and the staff is a wonderful feeling. I would encourage anyone who lives in the area and is interested in becoming a Governor to get in touch with the Head Teacher.

Hazell Gibson (Appointed Governor)

I have lived on the island all my life and went through the education system here, I feel I have some understanding of a lot of the local issues.

I retired from my job in accountancy during the pandemic to help with the childcare of my grandson, and have volunteered to become part of the enthusiastic team at St Clement’s as a school governor. I hope I can make a contribution to the local community in this role.

Kelly Lockwood (Head Teacher and Lead DSL)

I am proud to be Headteacher of St Clement’s CEP school since April 2023.  Prior to that I was Acting Headteacher of Eastchuch Primary School on the lsle of Sheppey.  I have worked in schools on the island since April 2020 and joined when we were first hit with the pandemic.  I have been along the journey of academisation, de-merging from Eastchurch and establishing a new school since working here.  I have been a school governor since 2009 and worked in Thanet and was Head of School at a Catholic primary school prior to working on the island.  I am passionate about education, the right of all children to have an excellent education and start to their young lives.  I work tirelessly with the most hard to reach families and aim to build a thriving community with all stakeholders that can grow and flourish successfully together.

Richard Boustred (Appointed Governor)

Hannah French (Staff Governor)

Natasha Bridge (Parent Governor)

I have 2 Children (8,2 years old) with my husband and a stepson (12 years old) from his previous relationship. We moved to the island in 2016, near to the beach and we love it here. I am a stay-at-home mum looking after my children and on a Saturday I teach dancing. My daughter attends St Clement’s CEP School and I am a parent governor. I wanted to join the governing body to help and give advice from a parent's point of view. I joined the governing body in April 2023 and I am really enjoying getting involved with the school and making decisions to better the children's education.
