Early Years Admissions – September 2027

Admissions to St Clement's Church of England Primary School are coordinated by the Kent County Council (KCC) Admissions Team.

Applications for children due to start Reception in September 2027 must be submitted through the Kent County Council primary admissions process.

Children born between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023 are normally eligible to start Reception in September 2027.

Parents and carers can apply online through the Kent County Council Primary Admissions website.

Key Dates for September 2027 Admissions

We encourage all parents and carers to submit their applications before the closing date to ensure their application is considered during the normal admissions round.

Parents can name up to three preferred schools on their application, listed in order of preference.

After You Receive Your School Offer

For children starting Reception in September 2027, Kent County Council will notify parents and carers of their allocated school place on Friday 16 April 2027.

If you provided an email address when applying, you will receive your offer by email after 4pm. You can also view your offer online from 5pm.

Once you receive your offer, you must confirm whether you wish to accept or decline the place.

The deadline for accepting or declining your child's school place is Friday 30 April 2027.

Parents should email the school directly to confirm their decision, using the contact details provided in their offer notification.

Please include your child's full name, date of birth, pupil ID (provided in your offer email) and your name. You will also be required to provide proof of your address.

If You Are Unhappy With Your School Offer

We understand that receiving an offer for a school that was not your first preference can be disappointing.

We would encourage you to visit the school you have been offered, explore its website and find out more about the opportunities available to your child.

If you remain unhappy with the offer, you may:

• Request to join the waiting list for a school named on your original application.

• Submit an appeal for a school where your child has been refused a place.

We strongly recommend that you accept the school place your child has been offered, even if it is not your preferred school.

Accepting the offered place will not affect your child's position on a waiting list or your right to appeal. It ensures your child has a school place for September if no alternative becomes available.

If your child is subsequently offered a place at another school through a waiting list or successful appeal, please inform the school you originally accepted that you no longer require the place.

Appeals – September 2027

If your child has been refused a place at one of your preferred schools for September 2027, you have the right to appeal the decision.

For the September 2027 intake:

• National Offer Day: Friday 16 April 2027

• Deadline for submitting an appeal: Monday 17 May 2027

• Appeal hearings: Normally held during June and July 2027

Appeals submitted by the published deadline will be arranged in accordance with the statutory admissions appeals timetable.

Appeals received after the deadline will be heard within the applicable statutory timescales, where reasonably possible.

An appeal is considered by an independent appeals panel, which will review the circumstances of your application and the reasons a place was refused.

Waiting Lists

If your child has not been offered a place at St Clement's Church of England Primary School, you may request that their name be added to the school's waiting list.

For the September 2027 intake, waiting list requests for the initial Kent County Council reallocation process must be submitted by Friday 30 April 2027.

Parents should follow the waiting list instructions provided in their offer email from Kent County Council.

Following the KCC reallocation process on Thursday 27 May 2027, schools will take responsibility for maintaining their waiting lists.

Please contact our school office and speak to our Admissions Officer if you require further information or support.

Being placed on a waiting list does not guarantee that a school place will become available.

If You Were Not Offered Any of Your Preferred Schools

If your child has not been offered a place at any of the schools listed on your application, this may be because:

• Your child did not meet the eligibility requirements for a particular school.

• The school received more applications than places available.

• The school's published oversubscription criteria were used to determine which children were offered places.

In these circumstances, Kent County Council will normally allocate a place at an alternative school with availability.

In-Year Admissions

Children transferring into St Clement's Church of England Primary School outside the normal Reception admissions round are considered through the in-year admissions process.

Applications may be made during the academic year, subject to the availability of places within the appropriate year group and the school's published admissions arrangements.
